Clothing Industries In Trouble

Climate change is not just affecting the animals of the world, but also the clothing industries. These industries are dependent on cotton. sometimes this crop is even referred to as “the fabric of our lives”. This crop relies heavily on water to grow. With climate change effecting the Earth’s surfaces, droughts are likely in many areas making cotton difficult to grow. Another reason cotton is not growing very well with the climate change is because after prolonged exposure to heat and sunlight the crop begins to decompose and the fibers are weakened. Places like Africa are being affected by the droughts of climate change. The severe weather patterns due to climate change are threatening the supply of cotton as well as the cost.
Cotton; however, is not the only thing threatening the clothing industries. The greenhouse gases creating climate change are resulting in a change in the year round seasons. This hurts the clothing industries because the seasons have become warmer or colder than normal. Shipments of seasonal items are not always correct because of this. Also, certain apparel may not be selling, for instance warm sweaters during winter months may not be needed since winter months have been warmer than usual. People are holding off buying winter coats because it has began to stay warmer further into winter. This has resulted in coats being marked down and spring clothes being sold early just as stated in an article in the New York Times.

This very good at describing why the climate change if affecting the clothing industry. It throughly explains why places are having a hard time deciding what to sell due to the temperature. It also does a good job at explaining why the industries are having such a hard time trying to produce clothing, because the cotton plants need water. I like how it has enough details and how informative it is.I did see an editing error however. It was a sentence that didn’t begin with a capital letter. On the other hand it was good enough to make you forget about it. Nice job!

I found your information really informative and interesting. I also thought that your topic was really interesting and it would bring more attention to people because everybody loves clothing. I also liked how you put in the fact that people are waiting to buy winter coats because how much longer its taken in the past couple of years to get colder towards the winter.

I thought your topic was original, but well thought out and explained. I liked how you explained how the cotton is endangered. I think that you should add any alternatives for cotton that we could use for our clothes. But I really like it and you did a nice job!
